Hey everyone, I’m happy to announce – at least I think I am – that I’m bringing back the Don’t Let It End Reading Challenge for a second year. The timeframe is going to be exactly the same – FEBRUARY 14TH through JULY 14TH. And all the rules will be the same, too.

Just like last year, there will be a sign-up giveaway, and a giveaway for each month of the challenge, with an end-of-challenge giveaway at its conclusion.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be more successful this year than last year, but that remains TBD.

Dashes_Divider

The Goal

To say goodbye to some of those series that have been lingering on your TBR piles or to say goodbye to series ending this year that you’re terrified of saying goodbye to.

Dashes_Divider

The Rules

one…

Read the FINAL book only in a series that you’ve been putting off, or dread reading.

— This can be ANY series-ending book – YA or non-YA from ANY year. But ONLY the LAST book in the series counts for this challenge. So if you have a few books to read in order to reach that final book in the series, only the series-ending book will count toward the challenge.

Dashes_Divider

two…

Write a review (or post your thoughts) about the book.

— You can do this on your blog or website, on Tumblr, Goodreads, Facebook or any site that allows you to leave a link in the Linky List each month.

Dashes_Divider

three…

Between February 14th (Valentine’s Day) and July 14th (Bastille Day) stop back and leave a link to your posts.

— Each month on the 14th there will be a post with a Linky List so that you can link up each of your reviews or thoughts posts. If you forget to leave a link during the current challenge month you can post it in the next month’s Linky List. BUT you can only post a link once.

— On July 14th there will be a wrap-up post with an end-of-challenge giveaway for “successful” challenge participants. (Those who sign-up and read, review and link up at least ONE series-ending book will be automatically entered into this giveaway.)

Dashes_Divider

The Deets

— Open to EVERYONE with a place to post their thoughts online.

— For books from ANY genre.

— For books from ANY year.

— ONLY for the final full-length book in a series.

— NO minimum or maximum commitment. NO requirement to read and review each month.

— Join at any time by signing up in THIS post and leaving thoughts/review links in the current month’s post.

— Books read for other challenges CAN count toward this one. But only the LAST book in a series will count for this challenge. And ONLY books reading during the months of this challenge count.

— In addition to the sign-up giveaway and end-of-challenge giveaway, there will be a monthly GIVEAWAY in which one winner is chosen from that month’s participants for ONE series-ending Book of Choice.

And so it begins…

I cannot believe I’m hosting this challenge again this year. Especially as I did so poorly last year. While I did manage to read a few more series-ending books than I might have if I hadn’t started this challenge, I still haven’t read a couple of the books I swore I’d read. Books like CLOCKWORK PRINCESS and DARKEST MERCY.

Maybe this year…

If you have, then GOOD LUCK on this, the first, month of the challenge.

And so begins month two…

I cannot believe how poorly I did during the first month of this challenge. I had so many review books to read that I kind of put this reading challenge on the back burner. But it wasn’t a total fail.

I did say goodbye to one amazing series this month and am currently reading one of my Month One Hopefuls. So while it wasn’t the three books I wanted to read, at least it wasn’t zero.

This month I read…

THE FOREVER SONG (Blood of Eden #3) by Julie Kagawa

BOUNDLESS (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand – currently reading

I won’t get the chance to post my review for THE FOREVER SONG until my tour stop on April 8th. And depending on how devastating the ending is for BOUNDLESS, I’ll try to write and post that review next week. Still a little late to count for this month’s challenge though….

I still wasn’t able to say goodbye to CLOCKWORK PRINCESS, but maybe this month… or next month… or the next.

We shall see….

If you haven’t yet signed up, check out the SIGN-UP POST for details.

If you have, then GOOD LUCK on this, the second, month of the challenge.

Good Luck!

Thank you so much for participating in my short, five-month reading challenge. By joining me in tackling those series-ending books you make it that much easier for me to say goodbye.

I hope that goodbye hasn’t been too painful and that it gets a little bit easier with each read. And if this is your second year, I hope that so far year two has been easier than year one.

As one or two series-ending books are releasing next month that I’ve been anxiously awaiting, I think that next month might just be the month that I call a success. But I make no promises about this month.

Welcome to month three…

I am a complete and total epic fail with this year’s Don’t Let It End Reading Challenge. I only read one book during the first month of the challenge, I never did finish the second series-ending book I started reading in month one, which means that I read a total of ZERO books in month two.

This month I read…

NOTHING…

Well, I read a few books this month, but none of them were series-ending books. All six of the books I did read were review books, but not a single one of them was a series-ender.

And while I would still love to read two of the books I wanted to read in Month Two, I am not very hopeful that I actually will read them. However there are a few books I am positive I will be reading during this third month of the challenge.

So maybe, just maybe, this entire challenge won’t be a complete and total fail. We shall see…

If you haven’t yet signed up, check out the SIGN-UP POST for details.

If you have, then GOOD LUCK this third month of the challenge.

Good Luck!

Thanks so much again for being a part of my five month challenge. We’re nearing the half way point and I hope you’ve done better than I have. I know it’s not easy to say goodbye to your favorite series – believe me I know! – so just reading even one series-ender during the five months of this challenge is something I’d consider a win.

All three of the series-ending books I’m planning on reading this month are releasing just a week before this month’s challenge ends, but I have an eARC of THE WARRIOR so I hope to be able to say goodbye to that sooner and then dive into both BREAKABLE and THE ONE just as soon as my Kindle copies download.

I hope that your selections for this month of the challenge don’t all release on the same day, or that you have an advance copy of one or two of them so that you won’t have to say goodbye all at once.

Whichever series you decide to say goodbye to this month, I wish you the very best of luck in doing so!

Welcome to month four…

I didn’t do a much better job this month. Though I suppose I did slightly better than last month. I only finished ONE book this month, though I’m still not entirely sure it’s a series-ender. And I did start to read two.

This month I read…

BREAKABLE (Contours of the Heart #2) by Tammara Webber. And while I haven’t posted my review yet, it will be up next week.

And I started reading both THE WARRIOR and THE ONE and realized there was no way I was ready to say goodbye just yet. But I am confident I’ll be able to say goodbye to at least one of them during this fourth month of the challenge. I just wish I was as confident I’ll be ready to say goodbye to this month’s choices – of which there are only two.

Anyway…

If you haven’t yet signed up, check out the SIGN-UP POST for details. While there are only two months left, it’s still not too late to join in and say goodbye to at least one of your favorite series.

But if you have, then I wish you the very best of luck this fourth month of the challenge.

Good Luck!

Seriously, I can’t thank you enough for being a part of this challenge. I think you are all so very brave. And yes, you do give me the courage to at least try saying goodbye to some of my most favorite series. Stopping when panic sets in mid-read can’t be helped. It can’t… really.

As always, I hope that you’re doing a heck of a lot better on your challenge goals than I am. While I was so certain I was ready to tackle the challenge last year, I’ve clearly fallen short this year with both my certainty and my ability.

But I know the same cannot be said of you. Or there would be zero links left in the Linky List at the bottom of each month’s post. And that has not happened.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of us, and that if you’ve added CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE to your DLIE Reading Challenge pile it won’t be the book that breaks your success streak.

Happy reading and may your goodbyes be filled with tears of joy, not tears of sadness.

Welcome to month five…

It is now the fifth and final month of the Don’t Let It End Reading Challenge and I’m so upset at how poorly I did during this year’s challenge. I really wanted to say goodbye to at least 10 series and I didn’t even come close to that number.

But at least I was able to say goodbye to one book this month and I’m on my way to saying goodbye to another.

This month I read…

THE QUEEN OF ZOMBIE HEARTS (The White Rabbit Chronicles #3) by Gena Showalter. I will not be posting my review until closer to release date, but I actually did write one.

And I am currently reading… CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE (The Mortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare. When I finish I probably won’t be posting a formal review, but I will possibly share my bookish thoughts.

Anyway…

If you’d like to sign up and participate in this final month of the challenge just check out the SIGN-UP POST for details.

And if you have already signed up and are sprinting for the finish line, I wish you luck!

My Month Five Hopefuls

DELIVERANCE (The Courier’s Daughter #3) by C.J. Redwine – releases August 26th

THE GIRL WITH THE WINDUP HEART (Steampunk Chronicles #4) by Kady Cross – released May 27th

THE ONE (The Selection #3) by Kiera Cass – released May 6th

Yes, I know, two of them were hopefuls in earlier months, but I’m still hopeful!

Month Five

Leave your links to your thoughts posts on your blogs, Goodreads, Facebook or Booklikes. They should ONLY be links to reviews written and posted between June 14 and July 13, 2014.

And they should ONLY be reviews for books that are the final book in the series.

If you forgot to leave your links for reviews you wrote last month, you can leave them in this month’s Linky List, but you can ONLY link up a review once.

Giveaway

At the end of the month I will throw the Linky List numbers into Random and select ONE WINNER for a series-ending book of their choice not to exceed $25 USD.

And as this is the FINAL month of the challenge, I’ll be throwing all the names from each month of the challenge into Random – one entry per review link left – for a chance to win three books of the winner’s choice not to exceed $60 USD for the END-OF-CHALLENGE GIVEAWAY.

Month Four Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to…

Lis @ The Reader Lines

Please drop me an email at fiktshun[at]gmail[dot]com with your address details and your book of choice and I’ll order your series-ending book!

Good Luck!

Good luck in this final month of the challenge. I hope that you managed to tackle of few of those linger series ending books. I hope that saying goodbye to as many series as you did wasn’t as painful for you as you thought it might be.

For those of you who have joined in for at least one month of this challenge – THANK YOU SO MUCH! Even if I wasn’t always successful during this challenge, you are total inspirations. So thank you!

If you’d like to share your thoughts about your challenge progress, leave a comment as I’d love to know how you think you’ve done versus how you hoped to have done. And I’d love to know if it was as difficult for you to say goodbye as it has been for me.

Wow. I can’t believe that this year’s Don’t Let It End Reading Challenge is over. While it’s only five months, those five months FLEW by. And I’m so not ready for it to be over. Especially since I did horribly this year and I really wanted say goodbye to four series that I just couldn’t quite say goodbye to… yet.

But while I did poorly in this year’s challenge, I know that not everyone did. Aside from my measly three-point-five reads, there were 105 series-ending books read. That’s pretty awesome!

The 10+ series-ending book readers of awesome are…

Aleksandra’s Corner – 15 books

Between Fantasy and Reality – 14 books

Jennifer K @ Goodreads – 13 books

The Reader Lines – 13 books

Jenelle @ Goodreads – 11 books

The Readdicts – 10 books

As you can see, I didn’t make the list. In this year’s challenge I only read…

THE FOREVER SONG by Julie Kagawa

BREAKABLE by Tammara Webber

THE QUEEN OF ZOMBIE HEARTS by Gena Showalter

And I read half of…

THE CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE by Cassandra Clare

… but I really don’t want to see that series end. Ever. So I’m not sure when I’ll finish that particular read.

Anyway…

I want to thank you so much for being a part of the Don’t Let It End Reading Challenge this year. And for those of you who have joined in for a second time, you are amazing. I don’t know how you can say goodbye to all those awesome books year after year. You totally rock!

I hope there weren’t too many tears. I hope you loved all the endings, whether or not there were. And I hope that saying goodbye to a few series allowed you to discover some new ones that made you fall in love.

Now, with all of that out of the way, let me announce the WINNERS!

Winners

The Month Five Winner for a book of their choice (up to $25 USD) is…

Jennifer K

The End-of-Challenge Winner for three books of their choice (up to $60 USD total) is…

Janhvi @ The Readdicts

Congratulations to you both! Please send me an email with your address details and book choices and I’ll order them from Amazon or The Book Depository depending on your location.

And for everyone who participated for even just one month of this challenge – thank you so very much for joining in and making a few series just a little bit easier to say goodbye to.

If you’re around the blogosphere next year, I hope you’ll stop by and sign up again. Until then… keep reading those end-of-series books!

Sign up by leaving a link to your blog, Facebook page, Goodreads profile or other. Sign-ups are open until July 14th.

create a sign-up post

OPTIONAL. If you decide to create a sign-up post instead of just signing up, your link will count as FIVE entries into the sign-up giveaway.

grab a button

If you don’t have a blog it’s not necessary. There are no extra entries for doing this. But if you’d like to show your support it would be awesome.

The button and coding are in the sidebar on the right.

wait for the challenge

Don’t start reading yet! The challenge begins on February 14th. Books read and reviewed before then won’t count.

stop back each month

On the 14th of every month there will be a new post for you to leave your links. Each link counts as an entry into that month’s giveaway.

read

The point of this challenge is to say goodbye to those end-of-series books. So don’t let your fear of saying goodbye stop you from finishing. If you say goodbye now you’ll have more room on your TBR piles to say hello to some awesome new series.

The Sign-up Giveaway

BookofChoice

To Enter…

Leave a link to wherever you plan on posting each month’s challenge posts. It will earn you ONE entry.

If you plan on creating a Challenge Sign-up Post, leave that link INSTEAD. It will earn you FIVE entries.

Prizes…

There will be TWO winners for two end-of-series books of choice (not to exceed $35 USD) to be ordered from Amazon or The Book Depository depending upon location.

Winners will be announced in the Challenge Begins post on February 14th. All my standard giveaway rules apply.

Dashes_Divider

Thanks!

& Good Luck

I know there are a ton of challenges to participate in, so I can’t thank you enough for joining me in an attempt to tackle those series-ending books. And while this challenge doesn’t begin for just over a month, in advance I want to wish you luck… not that you’ll need it!

If you have, then GOOD LUCK on this, the second, month of the challenge.
